WW2 Stanton Air Raid Shelter

In 2024 we acquired a WW2 Stanton Air Raid Shelter which was situated in Nottingham where it had been built in 1940 during the Blitz. It had to be dismantled and transported to us in Maldon, Essex where it was then re-constructed and now forms an integral part of our Home Front Collection.

On the 80th Anniversary of VE-Day 8 May 2025 it was officially opened by the Mayor of Maldon and a year on, as we approach the 81st Anniversary of VE-Day, we present this short documentary which tells of its journey and also the fascinating history of these buildings.
